Samsung Quick Share & AirDrop: Update Required for Cross-Platform File Sharing
Samsung has officially confirmed the highly anticipated compatibility between Quick Share and AirDrop, enabling seamless file transfers to Apple devices. This feature was initially rolled out to Samsung Galaxy S26 devices in Korea and will subsequently be extended to other regions, including Europe.
Essential Update for AirDrop Compatibility
To enable AirDrop functionality via Quick Share, it is crucial to install a Google Play Services update, specifically version 26.11.XX or higher. Proper functionality might also depend on a server-side component. Users are advised to check for and, if necessary, manually update Play Services through the Google Play Store.
Currently, this integration is not yet active in Europe. Samsung will provide further details regarding its availability.
The feature rollout began on March 23rd in Korea and will progressively expand to Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. Initially supported by the Galaxy S26 series, it will later be extended to other devices.
Simplified Data Transfers
For an iPhone to be detected by a Galaxy S26 for transferring photos, videos, or other files, Apple users will need to set "Allow Everyone" in their AirDrop settings.
This interoperability between Quick Share and AirDrop, which first debuted on Pixel 10 smartphones, is expected to be adopted by an increasing number of devices. Further announcements are anticipated.
