Project Motor Racing 2.0 Update Aims to Address All Criticisms
The racing simulator Project Motor Racing is attempting a major comeback with a massive update designed to tackle all the critical issues of its initial release, which drew harsh criticism from players. Developers GIANTS Software and Straight4 Studios have rolled out version 2.0, touted as the game's largest update ever. Its primary goal is to rebuild the project's foundation following a challenging initial reception.
A Revitalized Game Experience
This extensive update introduces profound changes across multiple aspects. The user interface has been completely redesigned to offer more intuitive navigation through events, cars, and championships. Driving physics have been revamped to deliver a more realistic experience, whether using a controller or a steering wheel. Simultaneously, the online component has been significantly bolstered with improved anti-cheat systems, more stable game session management, and a new License Points system aimed at promoting fair play among drivers in ranked modes.
The career mode has also seen an overhaul, now featuring clearer progression, a refreshed presentation of events, and the introduction of real-world sponsors, alongside decorative elements like podium ceremonies and trophies. On the technical front, the update brings significant enhancements to graphics, lighting, overall performance, and general stability.
Development for the game has been conducted in close collaboration with the community. Boris Stefan of GIANTS Software commented, "Although the launch faced some difficulties, we have become more actively involved on the publishing side to help realize the game's full potential. We continue to believe in the project, and starting today, we are launching a limited-time promotion offering discounts of up to 50% to encourage more racing enthusiasts to experience Project Motor Racing in its 2.0 version."
Kevin Boland from Straight4 Studios echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the post-launch development work: "Following the mixed reception of Project Motor Racing's launch last November, the team has worked closely with the sim racing community to improve the experience, patch after patch. Those months of feedback, testing, and iterations now culminate in Update 2.0, which marks a new baseline for us: the point at which we solidify the core experience and begin working on the future."
In addition to the update, the first official downloadable content (DLC), the Japanese GT500 Pack, is set to arrive on March 31st. This DLC will introduce five modern SUPER GT GT500 class cars and four iconic models from the JGTC era, including the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) and the Nissan Fairlady Z (Z33), along with a new Japanese circuit.
Project Motor Racing is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. The 2.0 update is now available across all platforms.
