Albion Online Launches on Xbox Series X|S: Release Date Revealed for Fantasy MMORPG
Albion Online, the popular fantasy MMORPG from Sandbox Interactive, is set to make its debut on Xbox Series X|S on April 21st. This launch marks a significant expansion for the game, which has an almost decade-long history on PC.
Originally launched on PC in July 2017, and later expanded to mobile devices (iOS and Android) in 2021, Albion Online is now preparing to arrive on consoles, starting with the Xbox platform. Currently, there are no announcements regarding potential versions for PlayStation or Nintendo Switch, with the focus exclusively on Xbox Series X|S.
Cross-Play and Interface Adaptations
A key feature of the Xbox Series X|S version will be full cross-play support with the PC version. Players will be able to transfer their progress and saves using the same account, and engage in multiplayer with users across different platforms.
To celebrate the announcement, a live-action trailer was released in collaboration with Oddest of the Odd, offering an ironic look at the game's world.
While the core gameplay remains faithful to the PC version, the development team has implemented significant adaptations for the controls, optimizing them for the Xbox controller, and has revised the user interface for more intuitive navigation on console.
This console launch follows the game's relaunch in Europe with a new server in 2024, which generated renewed interest, and now expectations are high for its impact on the console market.
