Embracer Group Splits in Two, Tomb Raider and The Lord of the Rings Move to Fellowship

After years of acquisitions, divestitures, and layoffs, Embracer Group is set to undergo another significant structural change.

The Swedish video game holding company, known for its rapid expansion through numerous acquisitions, has announced a strategic reorganization. Embracer Group will be divided into two separate publicly traded companies.

The first entity will retain the Embracer Group name and will focus on its core gaming operations. The second, newly established company, will be called “Fellowship” and will house some of the group’s most prominent and valuable intellectual properties.

Significantly, the highly anticipated franchises such as Tomb Raider and The Lord of the Rings will be transferred to Fellowship. This move is expected to allow these beloved brands to operate with greater strategic focus and potentially unlock new avenues for development and expansion.

This restructuring comes after a period of intense scrutiny and financial adjustments for Embracer Group. The company has been working to streamline its operations and improve its profitability, and this division is seen as a key step in that direction.

Further details regarding the specific assets that will reside within each new company, as well as leadership appointments and timelines for the transition, are expected to be released in the coming months.
