Microsoft is implementing a new feature to simplify resuming recently played games across various devices. With an August update, your Xbox gaming history will now synchronize between consoles, PC, and future devices like the ROG Xbox Ally.
This means you can start a game like Gears of War: Reloaded on your Xbox Series X|S and seamlessly continue it on your PC later, picking up exactly where you left off. Microsoft also confirmed that cloud-streamed titles, whether from Game Pass or owned, such as classics like The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, will be integrated into your recently played list.
This synchronized play history is particularly beneficial for the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, set to launch this October. The ability to continue games on a portable device while traveling is a key selling point for these systems, provided the games are compatible with both the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. Furthermore, Xbox is also enhancing the tracking of your owned game library, a feature still in preview.
However, Microsoft has not yet disclosed the official pricing for the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. Industry speculation, supported by previous Best Buy listings, suggests potential prices of $550 and $900 for the handheld devices, respectively.
