Wolfenstein TV Series Confirmed with Fallout Show’s Producers

Following the successful adaptation of the Fallout game series into a highly acclaimed television show, Amazon is now turning its attention to another iconic franchise: Wolfenstein. The new TV series is being developed by Kilter Films, the same production company responsible for the Fallout hit, alongside Patrick Somerville`s Chaoticgood.TV. Jerk Gustafsson from MachineGames, the studio behind the recent Wolfenstein video games, is also slated to serve as an executive producer.

While specific plot details for the Wolfenstein adaptation remain under wraps, as reported by Variety, the series is expected to retain its fundamental premise of combating Nazis. The Wolfenstein franchise boasts a long history, originating in 1981. Its 1992 installment, Wolfenstein 3D by Id Software, is widely recognized for playing a pivotal role in the popularization of first-person shooter games during the 1990s.

More recently, MachineGames revitalized the franchise for contemporary audiences with the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order in 2014. Given MachineGames` direct involvement, Amazon`s television series is anticipated to draw heavily from this modern iteration of the Wolfenstein universe as its primary source material.

The games typically explore an alternate history where Nazi Germany emerged victorious from World War II, thanks to the discovery of advanced technological breakthroughs. The narrative follows U.S. soldier William `B.J.` Blazkowicz as he embarks on missions to thwart the Axis powers.

The Wolfenstein series is just one among several video game adaptations currently in various stages of development at Amazon. Beyond a new season of Fallout and Twisted Metal, the company is also working on television series based on popular titles such as God of War, Warhammer 40K, and Mass Effect.
