Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk recently delighted fans by recreating a brief segment of the opening cinematic from Tony Hawk`s Underground. However, this wasn`t a hint at a full remake. Instead, Hawk himself stepped into the shoes of the game`s customizable protagonist, re-enacting the memorable encounter with the infamous antagonist, Eric Sparrow, across social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
Hawk explained that he made the video to spread some cheer and mark National Video Games Day. To manage expectations, the video`s title explicitly stated, “not a THUG promo,” tempering any hopes of an upcoming remaster.
Despite the nostalgic fun, this clip is not a preview of a potential remake for the beloved 2003 skateboarding classic. Hawk has previously expressed his personal desire for a remaster, but acknowledged that the ultimate decision rests with the publishers, not him.
Nevertheless, the legendary skater remains committed to advocating for a revival of the game. He hopes that the positive reception of Tony Hawk`s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will encourage Microsoft and Activision to seriously consider new opportunities for the franchise.
It`s been an exciting year for skateboarding game enthusiasts. Alongside the return of classic Tony Hawk titles to consoles and PC, EA`s highly anticipated Skate revival is gearing up for its early access debut. This free-to-play live-service game, launching on September 16 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, promises a revamped “Flick-it” control system and an expansive urban playground for players to master.
