The Outer Worlds 2: Meet Your Non-Romanceable Companions

Obsidian Entertainment has shared new information regarding the companions in The Outer Worlds 2, confirming that, similar to its predecessor, romantic relationships with these characters will not be an option. This detail ensures players can focus on the unique dynamics and skills each companion brings to the journey without the expectation of romance.

Unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live, The Outer Worlds 2 will feature a total of six companions. Each character hails from a unique faction and possesses distinct skills, offering diverse tactical advantages and narrative perspectives:

  • Niles: Originating from the Earth Directorate, Niles is an engineering expert who also exhibits stealth capabilities, including invisibility.
  • Valerie: Also from the Earth Directorate, Valerie is a robot companion equipped with dual turrets, ready to provide heavy firepower.
  • Aza: Hailing from The Glorious Dawn, Aza fulfills the role of a formidable and bloodthirsty assassin.
  • Inez: From Auntie`s Choice, Inez serves as a field medic and leverages biomedical enhancements to neutralize enemies.
  • Marisol: A member of the Order of the Ascendent faction, Marisol was shown in the trailer appearing to absorb an enemy`s essence.
  • Tristan: The final revealed companion, Tristan, is from the Protectorate. He wields a massive hammer and is depicted as eager to punish rule-breakers.

Recalling the first game, players in The Outer Worlds could bring two companions along on missions. Each companion also had their own dedicated quest lines, providing deeper insights into their backgrounds and motivations, often accompanied by strong opinions on the player`s choices and actions.

In a recent announcement, Microsoft revised the price of The Outer Worlds 2, stating it would now cost $70, a reduction from the previously indicated $80. The highly anticipated game is scheduled for release on October 29, available across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.
