The First Descendant Dev Apologizes for Unconsented AI Likenesses in TikTok Campaign

Nexon, the developer of *The First Descendant*, recently apologized after their TikTok Creative Challenge featured AI-generated videos. These videos, which appeared on the game`s official TikTok account, included the likenesses of content creators who had not given their permission, leading to an apology from Nexon on Steam.

Nexon`s statement on Steam expressed sincere apologies for the “inconvenience and disappointment” caused by the TikTok Creative Challenge issue. The company noted that TikTok currently lacks a system to verify copyright infringement, and TikTok is now investigating further cases. Nexon assured that they are taking the matter “very seriously” and are committed to improving their advertising and marketing processes.

Significantly, the content creators featured in these AI videos were neither involved in their creation nor provided consent for their likenesses to be used. One creator, DanieltheDemon, publicly confirmed on a TikTok by Game Central that he had not authorized the use of his image.

Released last year, *The First Descendant* holds a “Mixed” rating on Steam. A review for the game was also critical, giving it a 3/10 score.

Earlier this month, a collaboration with *NieR: Automata* was announced, making 2B and A2 available as in-game skins.
