The Boy and the Heron 4K Steelbook Edition Now Available at a Great Price

Studio Ghibli`s critically acclaimed and Oscar-winning animated film, “The Boy and the Heron,” is currently on offer at Amazon and Walmart at one of its most attractive price points to date. The 4K Blu-ray Steelbook Edition is discounted to just $26, marking the second-best price ever observed for this edition, closely following its all-time low of $25 in March.

Remarkably, the 4K Steelbook Edition of “The Boy and the Heron” is even more affordable than its standard 4K counterpart, which typically sells for $30.73. It`s also only marginally more expensive than the 1080p Blu-ray version, currently priced at $23. For fans looking to expand their Studio Ghibli collection, consider exploring the recently released “Grave of the Fireflies” Steelbook Edition. This 1989 Ghibli film, a poignant story set during World War II, features a steelbook design that complements “The Boy and the Heron`s” cover art aesthetic.

“The Boy and the Heron” holds the distinction of being Hayao Miyazaki`s second film to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, further solidifying its status as one of Studio Ghibli`s finest works. It stands proudly alongside other beloved classics such as “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Ponyo,” and “Spirited Away,” the latter being the only other Ghibli film to have received this prestigious Academy Award.

While the steelbook`s design aligns with previous limited-edition Studio Ghibli releases, it introduces a significant milestone: it`s the studio`s first film released on 4K Blu-ray. Interestingly, it`s Miyazaki`s second film overall to get a 4K release; his directorial debut, “The Castle of Cagliostro,” which premiered in 1979 long before the inception of Studio Ghibli, also received a 4K version a few years prior. Though not a Ghibli production, “The Castle of Cagliostro” is recognized as an excellent animated comedy.

All three available versions of “The Boy and the Heron” come packed with the following bonus features:

  • Feature-Length Storyboards
  • Interview with Composer Joe Hisaishi
  • Interview with Producer Toshio Suzuki
  • Interview with Supervising Animator Takeshi Honda
  • Drawing with Takeshi Honda
  • `Spinning Globe` Music Video
  • Teasers and Trailers

For those eager to expand their Studio Ghibli library, numerous other Steelbook Editions are available at Amazon, including popular titles like “Spirited Away,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” and “Kiki`s Delivery Service.”
