Superman’s Power Arrives in Fortnite This Weekend

Fortnite`s ongoing superhero season is set for a major addition this Friday, July 11th. The iconic hero Superman is landing on the Battle Royale island, bringing with him a new ability known as “Superman`s Call.” This power-up will allow one player per match to temporarily gain Superman`s legendary capabilities. The update also includes new character skins inspired by the movie and introduces a significant new point of interest on the map based on the famous Fortress of Solitude.

Granting a single player or group temporary boss-like status is a recurring mechanic Fortnite has utilized this year. Earlier examples include the Godzilla event in January and the Star Destroyer appearance from Star Wars in May. The Superman iteration of this feature will allow a player to experience flight and use powerful heat vision attacks against enemies and structures.

Starting Friday, players can also unlock the new Superman skin via the Battle Pass. The standard David Corenswet version requires gaining 12 Battle Pass levels, while a distinctive `pen & ink` cel-shaded style is unlocked after reaching 24 levels. These skins come with coordinating cosmetic items like a glider, pickaxe, and capes for both styles. Additionally, the in-game shop will offer skins for the characters The Engineer and Mister Terrific from the film. However, there has been no announcement regarding a widely hoped-for Lex Luthor skin.

Fans of the comics disappointed by Lex Luthor`s absence can explore the new major location, the Fortress of Solitude, available in both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes. This area is expected to remain on the map until the end of the next season. The Superman non-player character (NPC) will be found there, providing various services, such as healing, which players can purchase using gold bars.
