Pre-orders for the highly anticipated Super Mario Galaxy collection for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are now available through major retailers. Priced at $70, the bundle, which includes Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, is slated for release on October 2 in both physical and digital formats. Nintendo officially announced these enhanced editions of the beloved Wii classics during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation.
In addition, two new Super Mario Galaxy Amiibo figures were unveiled. However, fans will have to wait until April 2026 for their release, which will coincide with the premiere of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” Pre-orders are open for both the Mario and Luma Amiibo and the Rosalina and Lumas Amiibo, each priced at $40.
Classic Titles Revitalized for Modern Hardware
The original Super Mario Galaxy was previously featured in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection, a bundle that has been out of print for several years and is no longer sold on the eShop. This upcoming release marks a significant milestone as it`s the first time Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be available on Nintendo`s contemporary gaming hardware.
Opting for the Super Mario Galaxy collection offers players a $10 saving compared to purchasing each game individually for $40 on the eShop. Pre-orders can be placed via various prominent retailers.
Switch 2 Enhancements and Accessibility Features
Nintendo is also offering a complimentary performance upgrade for users with a Switch 2. This update will be accessible at launch for anyone who purchases either the physical or digital version of Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2.
When played in docked mode, the games will deliver visuals at 1080p on the original Switch and a stunning 4K resolution on Switch 2. Both titles support conventional button and stick controls, alongside optional motion controls for those who prefer the authentic Wii gaming experience. Furthermore, an Assist Mode has been integrated, mirroring features in other modern Mario games, to make these engaging platformers more approachable for newcomers and younger players.
Rosalina`s Storybook Expansion and Physical Release
Nintendo has enriched Rosalina`s Storybook with new chapters. Additionally, the original Storybook – excluding the newly added pages – will be released as a physical hardcover book for $25 on November 25. Published by Dark Horse, “Rosalina`s Storybook” will feature vibrant, full-color illustrations.
Celebrating Super Mario`s 40th Anniversary and The Galaxy Movie
Beyond its role in Super Mario`s 40th Anniversary celebrations, this collection aims to introduce these beloved games to a new generation of players ahead of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” premiere next April. As previously noted, Nintendo is also launching two distinct Amiibo figures: one featuring Mario and Luma, and another with Rosalina and Lumas. These Amiibo figures are not planned for release alongside the game collection; instead, Nintendo has scheduled their availability for April 2, 2026.
