Capcom held a fan art contest for Street Fighter 6, allowing winning entries to be featured in the game. However, the winning submission for the character Kimberly sparked significant controversy due to allegations of AI use, which violates the competition`s strict rules.
An X user, `hoodratt20xx,` initiated the debate by compiling a detailed Google Doc outlining what they believe are clear indicators of AI-generated content in the winning Kimberly artwork and other submissions. Another X user, Galena_Bismon, seconded this by sharing a similar analysis on their feed.

`I have reason to believe that one of the winning entries for New Challengers 2 is partially or fully made with AI,` hoodratt20xx stated in the document. `I don’t make these accusations lightly and honestly would love to be proven wrong. I have gathered a list of evidence that I believe will shed some light on the matter and hopefully with this information you will take action in regards to this.`
The artist in question, known as `lilithascends` on X, deleted all their social media accounts as speculation about the artwork intensified. Capcom has yet to issue a statement regarding the allegations.
This isn`t an isolated incident for video game art contests. Last June, The Pokemon Company was compelled to disqualify multiple entries from a Pokemon Trading Card Game art contest due to “violation of the rules” – also suspected to involve AI – leading to the selection of new winners.
