Stephanie Beatriz, the acclaimed star of the `Twisted Metal` series, has revealed that her experience on the show will leave a lasting mark, manifesting in both literal scars and the profound emotional challenges she faced during Season 1.
In a recent interview conducted on the `Twisted Metal` set in Toronto, Beatriz disclosed that she bears a “huge scar” on her left ankle, a memento from the first season`s production. She recounted moving too swiftly across the front of a vehicle when one of the car`s “big, huge spikes” caused a significant injury, humorously stating it “ate the shit out of my leg.” This permanent scar, she noted, will forever serve as a reminder of her time on the show.
Beyond the physical memento, Beatriz shared the deep emotional impact of filming both Season 1 and Season 2, which coincided with major personal life events. In August 2021, she welcomed her first child, only to begin shooting `Twisted Metal` Season 1 the following May. Just two months later, in July 2022, she received the devastating news that her father was dying of cancer; he passed away shortly thereafter. This period, she described, created intense internal turmoil, leaving her questioning how to navigate each day.
Regarding Season 2, Beatriz explained that while she doesn`t necessarily feel more “focused” on set, the intense life events that vied for her attention in Season 1 are no longer as dominant. Despite this, she admitted to feeling a considerable amount of guilt about being away from her young child. Beatriz reflected on an actor`s duty to compartmentalize their personal life from their professional work. She expressed hope that she managed this effectively in Season 1 but confessed to feeling significantly more guilt in Season 2, as her child is no longer an infant.
The second season of `Twisted Metal` is scheduled to premiere on July 31st on the Peacock streaming service.
