Shift Up Corporation recently rolled out a new update, version 1.3.0, for Stellar Blade on both PC and PS5, introducing various enhancements and bug fixes. While PlayStation users and many PC players appreciate these quality-of-life improvements, a notable number of PC users are reporting significant problems launching the game via Steam after applying the patch.
Reports on the Steam forums indicate frustration, with one player stating, “Game won`t load now… I was playing 20 minutes before the update and now it won`t launch.” Another user echoed this sentiment, detailing how the game stopped working immediately after downloading patch 1.3.0, with reinstallation attempts failing to resolve the issue, despite the game functioning perfectly before the update.
A Stellar Blade developer, known as `Wolfcastle` on Steam, has suggested a potential workaround for affected players. According to Wolfcastle, launch problems might stem from incompatibilities with UE4SS or installed mods. They advised users to completely remove these files to see if the issue resolves. However, some players reported that this solution was ineffective even after mod removal. While Shift Up has yet to formally address the widespread problem, a temporary fix circulated on the Stellar Blade subreddit involves manually editing UE4SS files within the game`s installation directory.
Beyond addressing bugs, patch 1.3.0 also brings an enhanced Photo Mode. Additionally, enabling FSR frame generation now requires a game restart. The complete patch notes for both PC and PS5 are detailed below.
