Steam Outage Disrupts Little Rocket Lab’s Launch

Today, developers Teenage Astronauts and publisher No More Robots were gearing up to release their new role-playing game, Little Rocket Lab. Unfortunately for the team, the Steam platform experienced an outage just before the game`s scheduled launch, causing significant frustration.

Mike Rose, founder of No More Robots, publicly shared his exasperation regarding this turn of events on social media. An hour later, he updated his status, stating he was “livid” but then expressed immense relief when Steam finally came back online. Players can now purchase Little Rocket Lab on both Steam and Xbox. No More Robots also launched a trailer for the game, giving fans a glimpse into what awaits them.

About Little Rocket Lab

In Little Rocket Lab, players embody a young engineer named Morgan, whose ultimate ambition is to fulfill her family`s dream of constructing a rocket ship. To achieve this, Morgan must first rebuild her family home and utilize her engineering talents in her hometown of St. Ambroise to improve the lives of its inhabitants. It promises a unique blend of building, problem-solving, and heartwarming storytelling.

Recent Steam Developments and Industry Insights

This isn`t the first time Steam has faced launch-related issues. Last month, indie developers Laurent Lechat and Boris Marmontel received a letter from Steam acknowledging a botched launch for their game, Planet Centauri. Steam offered them a “Daily Deal” promotion on its homepage as compensation, highlighting the platform`s efforts to rectify such situations.

More recently, Steam also took action by removing a game called BlockBlasters due to its distribution of malware, which reportedly might have even stolen money from a cancer patient – a serious incident underscoring ongoing security concerns within the platform. Conversely, Steam introduced personalized user menus at the end of September, aiming to enhance user experience and game discoverability.

Despite Steam`s significant dominance in the PC gaming sector, a recent study suggests that Xbox users play more games than those on PS5 or Steam, largely attributed to the compelling value and extensive library offered by the Game Pass service. This indicates a shifting landscape in how players consume games across different platforms and the growing influence of subscription models.
