This week, Netflix launched the inaugural season of “Splinter Cell: Deathwatch,” an animated series centered on Tom Clancy`s legendary operative, Sam Fisher. Promptly after its debut, Netflix and series showrunner Derek Kolstad announced the show`s renewal for a second season.
Kolstad shared the news of “Deathwatch`s” continuation during an interview with IGN. He mentioned that the second season is already in pre-production, leading to the conclusion that the renewal decision was likely made prior to the first season`s release.
“Everyone is super excited about where we go next,” Kolstad stated, briefly touching upon the resolution of a character`s storyline from the Season 1 finale.

Regarding such narrative conclusions, Kolstad remarked, “What I love about those kinds of endings are when you return to it, usually we see one of three ways: One, you address that right away. Two, you ignore it. Or three, it`s a hybrid approach. And here it`s a hybrid approach, right? And what I think you can see in Season 2 is a larger-scale story, but the intimacy of character and the intimacy of action.”
Addressing inquiries about the show`s canine companion, Kaiju, Kolstad offered a comforting assurance: “Kaiju… will be safe forever.”
Liev Schreiber lends his voice to an older Sam Fisher, who emerges from retirement to aid a younger agent, Zinnia Mckenna, voiced by Kirby Howell-Baptiste. All episodes of “Splinter Cell: Deathwatch” Season 1 are now available for streaming on Netflix. While devotees of the classic video games anticipate the “Splinter Cell” remake announced in 2022, they can now also enjoy “Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow” on Steam, in addition to a current sale on the “Splinter Cell Legacy Collection.”
