EA`s popular Skate game is now freely available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, but a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is notably absent. Despite this, Switch 2 players can still look forward to an exciting new skateboarding title joining the platform`s existing lineup.
Later this year, Skate Story, an independent game developed by Sam Eng and published by Devolver, is slated for release on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game promises a captivating art style and an imaginative narrative. Players will assume the role of a demon residing in the underworld, whose body is depicted as being composed of `glass and pain.` Tasked by the devil with a skateboard, the demon`s ultimate mission is to skate all the way to the Moon and consume it, thereby escaping the confines of hell.
The game`s official description teases an immersive experience: “Ollie, kickflip, and grind your way through the ash and smoke of The Emptylands as you take on a seemingly impossible quest. Learn to master your weight and motion to conquer the weeping concrete. Savor the ritualistic beauty as you set your feet to pop a perfect kickflip.”
Initially announced earlier this year, Skate Story is also scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and PC. However, an Xbox version has not been announced as of yet.
Skate Story will join a growing collection of skateboarding games available on both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, including Tony Hawk`s Pro Skater 1+2, Skate Bird, Skater XL, Session, and OlliOlli World.
In related news, EA`s Skate has achieved significant initial success, attracting two million players within its first 24 hours. The game is currently in an early access phase, which is expected to last for approximately one year.
