Saw II, III, and IV Limited Edition 4K Steelbooks Return to Amazon Stock

Amazon has recently restocked its exclusive Limited Edition 4K Steelbooks for Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV, priced at $35 each. These films are making their 4K Blu-ray debut on October 21. Following multiple sell-outs since preorders began in August, all three editions became available again on September 23. As Amazon-exclusive items, these Steelbook Editions are currently the only way to own Saw II, III, and IV on 4K Blu-ray, making preordering highly recommended for fans, especially given their appealing designs.

The Saw II Steelbook design centers on John Kramer. With the O-ring sleeve on, Kramer wears an oxygen mask and hood; removing the sleeve reveals falling jigsaw puzzle pieces as the mask and hood pull away. The back of the steelbook features syringes, a clear nod to the film`s notorious scenes, with even more depicted in the interior art.

New exclusive bonus features include reflections from director Darren Lynn Bousman and actor Tobin Bell on the film. Additionally, there are three legacy audio commentaries and various behind-the-scenes featurettes.

The Saw III Steelbook`s sleeve art prominently displays the eerie pig mask from the early films. Removing the slipcase unmasks the character underneath, a reveal best kept from uninitiated viewers. The back shows Jigsaw on his tricycle, poised to “play a game.”

The Saw IV Limited Edition Steelbook arguably boasts the most striking cover of the trio. A large Billy the Puppet mask dominates both the front and back, with its eyes changing color thanks to the O-ring sleeve`s clever mechanisms. The interior art reveals Jigsaw`s cluttered workbench, complete with his contraptions and tape recorders.

Special features include two legacy audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes clips on props and traps, and two new featurettes: director Darren Lynn Bousman`s reflections and an interview with John Kramer actor Tobin Bell.

Which Saw Movies Are Available on 4K Blu-ray?

Saw Unrated Edition (4K Blu-ray) / Saw X (4K Blu-ray) Covers
Saw Unrated Edition (4K Blu-ray) / Saw X (4K Blu-ray) Covers

While a new Steelbook for the first Saw film isn`t part of this release, its Unrated Edition was already available on 4K Blu-ray in 2021. You can purchase this 2004 horror classic for approximately $14.79. The only other films in the franchise with 4K Blu-ray editions are the three most recent entries: Jigsaw (Saw VIII), Spiral (Saw IX), and Saw X. Notably, Saw X is chronologically set between Saw and Saw II, making it an ideal rewatch before your preorders arrive. Spiral, a standalone spin-off starring Chris Rock, can be viewed independently, though its reception was mixed. Jigsaw (2017) also occurs long after the original seven films (a decade later) and is largely self-contained, but a familiarity with the original series enhances the viewing experience.

Saw Movies on 4K Blu-ray:

  • Saw — $14.79
  • Saw Limited Edition — $58.48
  • Saw II Steelbook Edition — $35 | October 21
  • Saw III Steelbook Edition — $35 | October 21

Saw 10-Film Collection (Blu-ray) / Saw 7-Film Collection (Blu-ray) Covers

Blu-ray and DVD Box Sets:

  • Saw: 10-Film Collection (Blu-ray + DVD) — $40
  • Saw: 8-Film Collection (Blu-ray + DVD) — $18
  • Saw: 8-Film Collection (DVD) — $11.39
  • Saw: 7-Film Collection (Blu-ray) — $18
  • Saw: 7-Film Collection (DVD) — $8.86

If you acquire the new Steelbook preorders and the existing four Saw 4K Blu-rays, you`ll only be missing Saw V, VI, and The Final Chapter. While 4K restorations for these are likely in the future, current options include standalone 1080p Blu-ray editions (priced at $15 or less) or the comprehensive Saw 10-Film Collection for $40.

For a budget-friendly option, the Saw 7-Film Collection is available for $18. However, be aware that it packs seven movies onto only three Blu-ray discs, leading to video compression and potentially a lower quality experience for viewers accustomed to 4K, along with fewer bonus features.

The Saw 8-Film Collection, currently $18, might be a preferable alternative. This nine-disc set includes four Blu-rays and five DVDs. Jigsaw receives its own Blu-ray and DVD, complete with a dedicated bonus features disc. The other three Blu-ray discs mirror the content of the 7-Film Collection.

The Saw 10-Film Collection, while not flawless, stands out as the superior box set, not just for containing all ten films. Released last spring to celebrate the franchise`s 20th anniversary, this collection boasts 23 discs. Unlike older box sets, each film has its own 1080p Blu-ray and DVD, ensuring uncompressed video and access to all standalone bonus features. The first three Saw movies even include extra special features DVDs, bringing the total disc count to 23. The set also includes four collectible art cards and is housed in an oversized plastic case within a cardboard box featuring one of Jigsaw`s iconic traps.

The 7-Film and 8-Film Collections are suitable for those primarily interested in watching the movies without extensive focus on special features or 4K versus 1080p quality. The 7-Film Collection, at less than $3 per film, is a great value for a basic set. For fans who consider the Saw series complete with the original seven films (2004-2010), the $20 collection offers the Unrated editions of the main storyline. The $25 8-Film Collection provides added value with DVD versions of each film, even for those preferring the seven-film arc.

Complete Saw Series on 1080p Blu-ray

All ten Saw films are also available as standalone 1080p Blu-rays. The Unrated editions of the original seven mainline movies typically retail for $15 each, featuring matching cases with artwork depicting one of Jigsaw`s games. Bonus content varies by film, offering audio commentaries, making-of featurettes, retrospectives, short films, and other behind-the-scenes insights. The more recent trio of Saw movies are also affordably available on standard Blu-ray, though their case designs do not match the original seven.

  • Saw — $10.81
  • Saw II — $15
  • Saw III — $11.67
  • Saw IV — $8.33
  • Saw V — $14.49
  • Saw VI — $8
  • Saw: The Final Chapter — $15
  • Jigsaw — $9.24
  • Spiral — $12
  • Saw X — $10

Fans of the Saw franchise might also be interested in the upcoming Billy the Puppet Funko Pop. This iconic vinyl figure, complete with its signature tricycle, is available for preorder at $15, with a release date of September 27.
