Riot Games, the esteemed developer behind numerous popular titles, has accidentally unveiled the next playable character for its anticipated fighting game, 2XKO. This revelation wasn`t the result of malicious cyber intrusion, but rather a simple internal oversight: an official website update prematurely showcased Blitzcrank, the formidable automaton from Zaun, as the ninth addition to the game`s dynamic roster.
The unexpected confirmation came through updated imagery across multiple pages on the official Riot Games website, including the 2XKO Support section. Instead of featuring one of the eight previously announced fighters, Blitzcrank suddenly appeared, unintentionally confirming his inclusion well ahead of any planned announcement and catching the fanbase by surprise.
This accidental reveal marks the first substantial update on the League of Legends-themed fighting game since its appearance at Evo earlier this month. During the event, Riot confirmed that a closed beta test for PC players is scheduled to commence on September 9, with a console beta to follow at an unspecified later date. It has also been explicitly stated that Blitzcrank will be immediately available to participants in this initial closed beta.
Initially teased in 2021 under its development codename, Project L, 2XKO is designed as a free-to-play 2v2 tag-team fighting game. It draws its diverse cast of champions from Riot`s flagship MOBA title, League of Legends. Previous roster confirmations include popular figures such as Jinx, Ekko, and Vi (known from Arcane), alongside Yasuo the agile samurai and Darius the powerful axe-wielding warrior.
While 2XKO is confirmed for release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, a definitive official release date for the game has yet to be announced. Players eagerly awaiting more details regarding Blitzcrank can look forward to further information being shared on September 2.
