Retired Lego Star Wars R2-D2 Gets $72 Prime Day Discount, But You Should Hurry

Amazon is currently featuring an excellent deal on the adult Lego Star Wars R2-D2 display model. Typically priced at $240, this 2,314-piece R2-D2 construction set is now available for just $168. This $72 reduction represents the best discount we`ve observed at a major retailer. Given that Lego discontinued this set at the start of the year, this could be your final opportunity to acquire it at a reduced price. The R2-D2 offer is part of the official Prime Day promotions, but a Prime membership is not required for purchase.

Amazon introduced this specific Lego Star Wars offer on the last day of Prime Day 2025. It is available alongside other notable Lego Star Wars deals, including the Imperial Star Destroyer and the Phantom Menace BrickHeadz Collection.

Released in 2021 as part of Lucasfilm`s 50th Anniversary commemoration, this R2-D2 set is designated as a “black-box” Star Wars Lego product, signifying it`s primarily designed as a display piece targeted towards adults.

Upon completion, the 2,314-piece R2-D2 Lego model measures 12.5 x 7.5 x 6 inches. While not exceptionally large in physical footprint, it boasts an intricate design with numerous subtle details and functionalities that distinguish it as an exceptional display item. These include interactive elements inspired by the films: a rotating head, a retractable central leg, an adjustable periscope, and a front hatch that opens and extends. The model also incorporates a hidden compartment for storing Luke Skywalker`s lightsaber.

This R2-D2 model also includes a display plaque providing details about the droid, an R2-D2 minifigure, and a base for the minifigure celebrating Lucasfilm`s 50th Anniversary. Of particular interest to collectors, this R2-D2 model is the unique Lego set containing the exclusive Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary brick.

Last year, Lego released a smaller, 1,050-piece R2-D2 buildable figure which retailed for $100 but is currently marked down to $80. This newer version is recommended for children aged 10 and above. Although it also presents well, its building process is considerably less complex than that of the larger R2-D2 model.
