During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Capcom unveiled a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, offering viewers a brief glimpse into the past of its main protagonist, Grace Ashcroft. The footage also featured her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, a well-known journalist from the 2003 title, Resident Evil Outbreak.
The video opens with Grace and Alyssa in a hotel. Grace receives a cryptic phone call, after which the caller abruptly hangs up. Suddenly, all the lights in the building go out, and events rapidly spiral out of control.
In search of answers, the duo encounters the hotel manager, who attempts to apologize for the power outage. However, his words are cut short by a sudden attack: a mysterious hooded figure, whose pale skin resembles that of the undead or the zealots from Resident Evil 4, assails him with a plastic bag. Mother and daughter Ashcroft are forced to flee for their lives. As Grace, walking ahead, turns to her mother, she lets out a piercing scream, and the trailer abruptly ends.
The new trailer revealed additional details about Grace, who was already presented as a playable character in the June demonstration of Resident Evil Requiem. The previous announcement trailer depicted Grace as an FBI analyst years after her mother`s tragic death, so this current look at the game helps fill in the gaps in her story.
This clip was just one of many announcements presented at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The event also showcased fresh footage for The Outer Worlds 2, Ghost of Yotei, and Silent Hill F. Among the brand-new games unveiled were Lords of the Fallen 2, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Black Myth: Zhong Kui – the highly anticipated sequel to Black Myth: Wukong from Game Science.
Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
