RedOctane Games: Guitar Hero Veterans Reassemble to Revitalize Rhythm Gaming

While Guitar Hero itself isn`t making a comeback, a new studio called RedOctane Games is emerging, fronted by several key developers from the iconic rhythm series. This isn`t entirely new, as RedOctane was the original publisher of the Guitar Hero franchise. The studio`s clear mission is to exclusively develop rhythm games, spearheaded by Simon Ebejer, who previously served as production designer on titles such as Guitar Hero 3 and World Tour. Ebejer also held the role of studio head at Vicarious Visions (now known as Blizzard Albany).

A press release confirms that RedOctane Games has assembled a team comprising many of the original creators and developers behind Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, alongside promising new talent and influential community figures from the modern rhythm gaming scene. Charles and Kai Huang, the original founders of RedOctane Games, are also contributing to this new venture by serving on a special advisory board.

“Rhythm games transcend mere gameplay; they embody sensation, fluidity, and a deep connection to the music and to each other. RedOctane Games represents our commitment to contribute back to a genre that holds immense personal significance, while simultaneously innovating and steering it towards new and compelling frontiers.”

Although RedOctane Games has not yet unveiled its first title, production is reportedly underway, with an official announcement anticipated later this year.
