Amazon has surprisingly brought back two Nintendo Amiibo figures that have been out of stock for over seven years. Super Mario enthusiasts can now add the highly sought-after Koopa Troopa and Goomba Amiibo to their collections, priced at $16 each. Since these popular characters are shipped directly by Amazon, they are expected to sell out quickly. Both figures belong to the long-inactive Super Mario Amiibo series.
These figures originally launched in the US in October 2017 and were completely sold out on Amazon by the end of that year. Given that the standard price for Nintendo Switch Amiibo recently rose to $20, purchasing Koopa Troopa and Goomba at $16 effectively gives buyers a 20% discount. A similar discount is available for Sora from Kingdom Hearts, which also sells for $16 after launching earlier in 2024.

Splatoon fans can also find the Pearl & Marina 2-Pack for $25, a significant $10 below its MSRP, though stock is limited. Additionally, the European version of Robin from Fire Emblem is available for $20.90.
- Koopa Troopa (Super Mario) — $16
- Goomba (Super Mario) — $16
- Sora (Kingdom Hearts) — $16
- Pearl & Marina 2-Pack (Splatoon) — $25
- Robin (Fire Emblem) — $20.90
While many other Switch Amiibo figures are listed on Amazon, the five mentioned above are currently the only ones directly sold and shipped by Amazon. Collectors should also check out the deals on newer Zelda and Street Fighter Amiibo before they vanish.
Goomba: Super Mario Amiibo Series
The Goomba Amiibo was released on October 6, 2017, coinciding with the launch of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser`s Minions for Nintendo 3DS. This figure, along with Koopa Troopa, are unique in being released alongside a Mario RPG. In Bowser`s Minions, scanning the Goomba Amiibo unlocks Gold Goomba and various stamp sheets. It`s also compatible with several other Nintendo 3DS titles, notably prompting Wario to draw a comical Goomba picture in WarioWare Gold.
On the Nintendo Switch, the Goomba Amiibo offers unique features in games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser`s Fury, Super Mario Party, and Bayonetta 2. For instance, in Super Mario Party, it grants an exclusive shiny Goomba sticker.
Koopa Troopa: Super Mario Amiibo Series
The Koopa Troopa Amiibo debuted on the same day as Goomba, sharing similar read/write functions with Superstar Saga + Bowser`s Minions. Players can unlock Gold Koopa Troopa and themed stamp sheets. Like Goomba, it`s compatible with other 3DS Mario games, and yes, Wario`s drawing skills for Koopa Troopa are equally amusingly terrible.
On Switch, Koopa Troopa functions similarly to Goomba in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Bowser`s Fury, Bayonetta 2, and Super Mario Party. It unlocks the Koopa Troopa Spirit in Smash Bros. and, if you don`t already have it, the Goomba sticker in Super Mario Party (as a shiny Koopa sticker isn`t available). Notably, Koopa Troopa also unlocks exclusive costumes in Conga Master Party and Yoshi`s Crafted World.
Goombas and Koopa Troopas have been integral characters since the original Super Mario Bros. launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985.
In the very first level, World 1-1, Mario first encounters the grumpy Goombas before meeting the ever-smiling Koopa Troopa. This introduction quickly teaches players the strategic advantage of using Koopa Shells against groups of Goombas. For nearly 40 years, Super Mario fans have frequently used this classic tactic.
Nintendo has introduced many variations of Bowser`s minions over the decades, yet regular Koopas and Goombas remain staples in most Super Mario Bros. platformers and spin-off titles. Their frequent appearance together makes it fitting that Amazon has both these iconic Amiibo figures in stock simultaneously.
