Amazon is now accepting pre-orders for an exclusive 4K Blu-ray edition of The Long Walk. This Limited Edition Steelbook, priced at $35, has quickly become the top-selling movie on Amazon. Given its attractive price point, the film`s widespread popularity, and its distinctive interactive artwork featuring Mark Hamill, fans of Stephen King are encouraged to secure their copy promptly. It is highly anticipated that this Steelbook Edition could sell out rapidly or see a price increase, especially since it is currently more affordable than the standard 1080p Blu-ray version.
This dystopian thriller is widely regarded as one of the most critically acclaimed Stephen King movie adaptations. At the time of writing, The Long Walk boasts an impressive 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Directed by Francis Lawrence and penned by JT Mollner, the film features an ensemble cast including Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill, among others.
The Long Walk is one of three King adaptations set to hit theaters in 2025, and it`s the first to receive a Steelbook Edition. Enthusiasts can also pre-order the first standalone hardcover edition of the 1979 novel from Amazon. The Long Walk Limited Edition Steelbook (4K Blu-ray) Details
The Steelbook Edition of The Long Walk includes 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and digital versions of the movie. The steelbook case showcases Mark Hamill`s villainous character, the Major, on the front, with dog tags of the contestants on the back. A transparent sleeve adds an interactive element, altering the Major`s sunglasses. With the sleeve on, reflections of the young men walking are visible; removing it makes them disappear. The interior artwork depicts the contestants walking, followed by a tank.
While special features and technical specifications are yet to be revealed, expect behind-the-scenes content along with support for HDR and surround sound.

Stephen King – The Long Walk – First Hardcover Edition Details
For those eager to read Stephen King`s original novel either before or after watching the film adaptation, Scribner will release a new hardcover edition of The Long Walk on October 7. While new editions often accompany adaptations, most are paperbacks. This upcoming hardcover edition is significant for serious King collectors.
This marks the first standalone hardcover edition of The Long Walk available at bookstores and major retailers. Historically, The Long Walk was one of several novels King wrote under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, and these were initially published only in paperback. Although it hit stores in 1979, it was actually the first novel King ever wrote.
After King revealed his true identity as Bachman in 1985, The Long Walk and three other Bachman novels were compiled into a hardcover collection titled The Bachman Books. A high-priced Limited Edition by Centipede Press was also released in 2023.
Earlier this month, Scribner also published a paperback tie-in edition featuring the movie poster as its cover art. Amazon currently offers a limited-time deal, dropping the price of this edition to $14.24.

This novel, also written by King under the Bachman pseudonym, had not received a standalone hardcover edition until now. The Running Man hardcover edition is slated for publication on October 14, priced at $29. A new film adaptation of The Running Man, starring Glen Powell and directed by Edgar Wright, is scheduled to premiere on November 7. This movie is anticipated to be a more faithful adaptation of the source material compared to the original 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Stephen King Movies on 4K Blu-ray
As previously mentioned, The Long Walk is the first 2025 King adaptation to offer a Steelbook Edition, though it would be surprising if The Running Man doesn`t follow suit. The other two 2025 adaptations currently without Steelbook Editions are The Life of Chuck and The Monkey. Directed by Osgood Perkins, The Monkey is a horror-comedy centered on a cursed toy monkey. It received a standard 4K Blu-ray release in June and is currently available on Amazon for just $19.67 (originally $43). Meanwhile, The Life of Chuck, a fantasy drama directed by Mike Flanagan, will have its 4K Blu-ray edition released on September 30 and can be preordered for $27.49 (originally $40) from Amazon.
This year has also seen several older film adaptations of King`s work receive new 4K Blu-ray editions. The Dead Zone Limited Edition Steelbook launched in June as an Amazon exclusive; The Dark Half finally received a 4K restoration in July; and Creepshow 2 will arrive on 4K Blu-ray later this month as a Limited Edition from Arrow Video. The 1990 film Graveyard Shift also saw a 4K Blu-ray release this year, though it is generally considered to be of lower quality compared to the others mentioned.
