Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: A Comprehensive Guide to Acquiring Shiny Legendary Pokémon

Pokemon trainers playing Scarlet and Violet will soon have a unique opportunity to acquire shiny versions of the legendary `Treasures of Ruin` Pokémon: Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu. These rare Pokémon will appear in five-star Tera raids over the coming weeks, but obtaining them requires a collective effort from the global player base.

Unlike previous raid events where defeating a Pokémon allowed direct capture, these shiny legendary Pokémon will simply flee after being defeated in battle. Instead, players must collectively achieve one million victories against these specific Pokémon before their respective event periods conclude. If this global challenge is met, the shiny legendaries will then be distributed to players as special Mystery Gifts.

The event series kicks off on July 22 with shiny Wo-Chien, with the other Treasures of Ruin following throughout August and September. Below is the detailed schedule for these exciting Tera Raid events:

To participate in these Tera Raids, players need to ensure their game is up to date by accessing the Poke Portal and checking for the latest news. Once updated, event raid dens can be found across the Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy regions. Although these are five-star raid bosses and generally less challenging than some special raids, teaming up with other players online is highly recommended for the best chance of success.

Once the collective goal of one million victories is met and the Mystery Gift distributions begin, players can claim their shiny legendary Pokémon. Simply launch your copy of Scarlet or Violet, press X to open the menu, select Poke Portal, then Mystery Gift, and finally choose `Get via Internet`. Remember to save your game afterward.

Additional bonuses may also be available based on player success. For every 100,000 victories achieved beyond the initial one million goal, The Pokémon Company will provide a Tera Shard Set, each containing 40 Tera Shards.

Even if you miss your chance to participate in these specific raid events, there may be future opportunities to obtain the shiny Treasures of Ruin. The Pokémon Company has indicated that these legendary Pokémon “may be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods,” offering hope for trainers who can`t join this time.

These shiny Treasure of Ruin events serve as a prelude to the release of the next installment in the series, Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This highly anticipated title is set to launch for both the original Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 on October 16. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is entirely set within the vibrant Lumiose City, which is undergoing an ambitious redevelopment plan designed to make it more habitable for both people and Pokémon.
