Pokémon Go August 2025 Events Guide

August marks the conclusion of Pokémon Go`s “Delightful Days” season, bringing a host of exciting events. This month will see the debut of Pokémon like Gigantamax Butterfree and Shadow Kyogre, alongside rare appearances of Origin Form Dialga and Palkia during a special Raid Day. Players can also anticipate the usual Spotlight Hours, new Raid Bosses, and the grand Pokémon Go Fest Max Finale, featuring Eternatus, to conclude the season. Below is a comprehensive guide to all major August Pokémon Go events.

August Raid Schedule

August brings a fresh lineup of raid bosses to Pokémon Go gyms. Legendary Pokémon Lugia and Ho-Oh will dominate five-star raids early in the month, followed by Necrozma. Mega Raids will showcase Mega Ampharos, Slowbro, Pidgeot, and Salamence. Shadow Regirock will be featured in special Shadow Raids every weekend. The full schedule is detailed below.

Throughout August, Pokémon Go will highlight different Pokémon during its weekly Spotlight Hours. Each Tuesday from 6-7 PM local time, a specific Pokémon species will appear more frequently in the wild, offering a great chance to complete your Pokédex and collect candy. Participants will also receive special bonuses, such as double XP or Stardust for catching Pokémon. The complete August Spotlight Hour schedule is listed below.

Event bonuses include Power Spots yielding eight times the usual Max Particles, and the collection limit for Max Particles will temporarily increase to 1,600.

Additionally, Lure Modules activated during the event will last for one hour and are more likely to attract Combee and Swirlix.

Cozy Companions

Despite it being summer, two new Ice-type Pokémon will debut during the Cozy Companions event, running from August 6-12. Snom, the snow worm Pokémon, is among several Pokémon that can hatch from 7 km eggs during this period. Evolving Snom into Frosmoth requires earning 10 hearts with Snom as your buddy and using 400 Snom candy. Other Pokémon like Galarian Farfetch`d and Charcadet will also hatch from 7 km eggs, while Abra, Alolan Geodude, and Karrablast will appear more frequently in the wild. New Field and Timed Research tasks will provide additional opportunities to encounter these featured Pokémon.

Team Go Rocket makes a disruptive return during the Delightful Days: Taken Over event, running from August 11-17. During this period, Team Go Rocket grunts will appear more often at PokéStops and in balloons, commanding new Shadow Pokémon like Shadow Staryu, Shadow Fletchling, and Shadow Grubbin. Shadow Pokémon will also feature in various raids, including the debut of Shadow Kyogre. A new Special Research story will lead to a confrontation with Giovanni, offering the chance to rescue Shadow Giratina upon his defeat.

Coinciding with the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, Pokémon Go will host a Go Battle Weekend from August 15-17. This event introduces a new costumed Pikachu, sporting a varsity jacket, which can be encountered in one-star raids and via Field Research tasks. Pokémon such as Paldean Wooper, Frillish, and Fuecoco will appear more frequently in the wild, while Honedge, Lapras, and Dusclops will be available in raids. An additional bonus allows for up to five Special Trades per day during the event.

Additionally, several bonuses will be active: Power Spots will refresh daily and be more abundant, and the Remote Raid Pass limit will temporarily increase to 30, allowing for more remote raid participation.

While this specific Eternatus cannot be caught, defeating it yields substantial Eternatus candy, useful for powering up the one obtained via Go Pass: Max Finale. To aid in confronting Eternatus, all Gigantamax Pokémon will return to Max Battles. Legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta will also be available in five-star raids, offering another opportunity to capture them. Event bonuses include more frequent and active Power Spots, double candy and candy XL for catching Pokémon, and an unlimited number of Remote Raids.

Additional Community Day bonuses include a quarter egg hatching distance, double candy for catching Pokémon, and Incense and Lure Modules lasting for three hours.
