Playing Hollow Knight: Silksong on Mobile: Unofficial Methods and Performance Insights

Hollow Knight: Silksong, released just over a week ago, is already demonstrating impressive performance metrics. In merely a few days, this highly anticipated sequel successfully drew in five million players, a remarkable feat considering the absence of official mobile support. Although an official mobile version of Silksong is not yet available, there exists a method for players to enjoy their Steam cloud saves on an Android phone.

As has been reported, GameSir`s recently launched GameHub version 5.0 boasts such effective Windows emulation that it enables Silksong to run on Android smartphones. This innovative approach allows gamers to seamlessly access their saved games from Steam, ensuring they can pick up their adventure precisely where they left off, regardless of their location.

Nevertheless, utilizing GameHub for your Silksong playthroughs isn`t without its limitations. A significant drawback is the current inability to upload game progress made within GameHub back to Steam. GameSir has acknowledged this issue and is actively working towards a solution. Furthermore, Silksong proved to be quite demanding on Android hardware, with optimal performance, reaching up to 100 frames per second, primarily achieved when the device was coupled with external cooling solutions like a cooling plate and fan.

While Silksong is not the sole title accessible via GameHub, it has been noted that other games have also experienced compatibility issues with version 5.0. In parallel, a dedicated group that previously developed an Android port for the original Hollow Knight is now focused on creating an unofficial Android port for Hollow Knight: Silksong. This team anticipates having their port ready for release within approximately one month.

On its initial release date, September 4, over 7% of active Steam users reportedly engaged with Silksong. On that same day, the game secured the third position in Steam`s rankings, trailing only behind Helldivers II and Counter-Strike 2. The comprehensive Steam rankings for the first week of September are scheduled for release on September 15, which will then reveal if Silksong managed to clinch the top spot.
