During a recent Nintendo Direct presentation, EA officially unveiled Plants vs. Zombies Replanted, a remastered edition of the cherished original tower-defense game. Set to launch on both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, this new version promises enhanced HD visuals and introduces an exciting new local co-op feature.
EA assures fans that Plants vs. Zombies Replanted will perfectly encapsulate “the same charm, chaos, and sun-powered defense players know and love.” This means players will once again strategically deploy a variety of iconic garden defenders, such as Peashooters and Cob Cannons, across a backyard grid to thwart relentless waves of undead invaders. The game will also feature the eccentric Crazy Dave, who offers crucial upgrades to strengthen your defenses. Furthermore, in a press release, EA confirmed that the remaster will include “new levels, fresh twists, and 15 years of never-before-seen franchise history at your fingertips,” offering both nostalgia and new content.
The original Plants vs. Zombies first captivated audiences with its release on PC in 2009. It quickly expanded its reach, arriving on iPhone and Xbox 360 in 2010, and subsequently on many other platforms. Its widespread success paved the way for an entire franchise, branching out into popular spin-off titles like Garden Warfare.
Plants vs. Zombies Replanted is slated for release on October 23, with pre-orders available starting today. EA`s official website indicates the game will be priced at $20 and will be broadly available across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, in addition to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
