Peak’s Latest Patch Brings Major Fixes And Color Blindness Mode

Peak has recently rolled out an update featuring a highly anticipated Color Blindness mode, designed to enhance accessibility by adding unique patterns to its colored berries. This innovative feature offers players an alternative visual method for distinguishing berries during climbs, making the game more inclusive. Beyond this significant addition, the patch also includes crucial bug fixes—both major and minor—and several balancing adjustments.

The integration of more accessibility options is consistently a positive development for the gaming community. Such features not only expand a game`s reach to a broader audience but frequently become ingrained as standard gameplay elements, akin to how Fortnite`s visual sound effects have become a staple for many players.

This update also addresses several persistent issues, including a long-standing problem preventing players from earning the Endurance Badge, one of Peak`s numerous achievements that unlock cosmetic customization options. Furthermore, critical game-crashing bugs—such as the game freezing on the loading screen after being caught in a tornado—have been successfully resolved.

Below, you`ll find the comprehensive patch notes for Peak`s September 8 update:

Peak September 8 Patch Notes

FEATURES

  • Color Blindness Mode: Patterns have been introduced for differently colored berries to improve their visual distinction.

BALANCE

  • The maximum time before the first tornado can spawn has been reduced.
  • The minimum time before a tornado can spawn again has been slightly increased.
  • The commonness of the `Tornado Hell` biome variant has been slightly decreased.
  • It is now significantly less likely for the maze to be blocked after entering the TOMB.
  • Nest Eggs now weigh more to accurately match the weight of the Egg inside them.

MAJOR FIXES

  • Resolved an issue where players were unable to obtain the Endurance Badge.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented The Scoutmaster from climbing walls, making him an even more formidable presence.
  • Corrected an issue where items such as Scrolls and Berrynanas, which change form upon use, would drop the new item instead of placing it directly into the player`s hands.
  • Addressed a potential issue where playing a vanilla game after previously installing visual mods (or playing with a modded player without the same mods) could lead to various visual and functionality problems. This includes, but is not limited to, players permanently appearing as a default skin in the endgame screen even if wearing modded cosmetics, and the endgame report breaking entirely, preventing certain achievements from being obtained.
  • Fixed a rare bug where getting caught in a tornado could cause the game to freeze on the loading screen upon failing a run.
  • Implemented new backpack physics to prevent more instances of players losing their backpacks.

MINOR FIXES

  • Corrected the unusually low volume of the Magic Bugle and Scoutmaster`s Bugle.
  • The Guidebook now renders at a higher resolution when the Render Scale is set to low.
  • Resolved a softlock issue caused by placing a Scout Cannon atop a jellyfish.
  • A missing treetop has been added to a branch on the giant tree.
  • Removed the distracting flicker on the end-game countdown.
  • Eliminated the Scoutmaster grain effect in Photosensitive Mode.
  • The Rainbow stamina bar now depletes slower in Photosensitive Mode.
  • Fixed an issue where a prompt on the Controls page incorrectly displayed `Move` instead of `Interact`.
