Grinding Gear Games is set to launch “The Third Edict,” Path of Exile 2`s latest update, which introduces a new act, region, and substantial content. However, the most anticipated addition is the groundbreaking asynchronous trading system, featuring a dedicated in-game market browser. This system was recently unveiled by GGG, just days before the update`s release.
GGG clarified that while the in-game trade browser wasn`t ready for their initial “The Third Edict” content reveal, it`s now fully operational. Functioning much like Path of Exile 2`s official trade website, the browser enables players to efficiently search for desired items within the player-driven economy. A key innovation is the asynchronous trading, which eliminates the need for sellers to be online; buyers can now directly acquire items from a seller`s Hideout, streamlining transactions.
This seemingly straightforward feature represents a significant quality-of-life upgrade for Path of Exile 2 players. It transforms a previously cumbersome, multi-step trading process into a much simpler and more accessible experience. Should its implementation in PoE 2 prove successful, Grinding Gear Games plans to introduce this asynchronous trade system to the original Path of Exile in the future.
Key Features of The Third Edict
Beyond trading, “The Third Edict” is packed with numerous quality-of-life enhancements. Game director Johnathan Rogers noted that the developers aimed to “solve every problem people are currently unhappy about.” The update`s comprehensive improvements include:
- The debut of Act IV
- New endgame challenges
- A new sprint ability
- Path of Exile 2`s inaugural league
- A wealth of additional features and refinements
Release and Early Access Status
Despite the magnitude of this update, Path of Exile 2 is not expected to exit early access or transition to a free-to-play model in the near future. Developers have indicated that a full release in 2025 is improbable, and the game`s continued duration in early access will depend on its ongoing development and state.
“The Third Edict” is scheduled for release on August 29th. To celebrate its launch, Path of Exile 2 will host a free access weekend from August 29th to September 1st, allowing more players to experience the new content.
