Nintendo Unveils Purchasable Talking Flower Product

During the recent September Nintendo Direct, amidst exciting announcements for upcoming Switch 2 games, an unexpected physical product was introduced: a talking flower. This novel item draws its inspiration from the sentient floral characters featured in the newly revealed Super Mario Bros. Wonder game.

Designed to infuse a touch of whimsy into daily life, these physical talking flowers are capable of uttering various pre-recorded phrases, such as “We kinda look alike, huh?”. Nintendo`s Yoshiaki Koizumi demonstrated the product, clarifying that while it speaks, it does not possess interactive capabilities like smart assistants such as Amazon Alexa. As Koizumi explained, its primary purpose is simply to add a bit more fun to everyday routines.

Nintendo`s foray into consumer goods expands with this new floral-themed item.

The talking flowers are scheduled to launch in Spring 2026, though specific pricing information has not yet been disclosed. This release will coincide with the arrival of Super Mario Bros. Wonder and its “Meetup in Bellabel Park” DLC for the Switch 2, also set for Spring 2026.

This isn`t Nintendo`s sole venture into botanical-themed merchandise; the Piranha Plant camera, designed for the Switch 2, represents another unique plant-inspired product.

The September Nintendo Direct was rich with other significant revelations, including the long-awaited release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, new Resident Evil ports, and the surprising revival of the Virtual Boy, presented as a $100 physical collectible. Furthermore, a new range of Amiibo figures was unveiled. These diverse product introductions underscore Nintendo`s clear strategy of expanding its brand beyond traditional video games, embracing a broader spectrum of physical consumer items.
