Two years have passed since Bethesda`s ambitious space RPG, Starfield, first launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Following the release of its inaugural major expansion, “Shattered Space,” in September 2024, the anticipation for future content has been palpable. The gaming community is now abuzz with speculation, as a recent anniversary message shared on Starfield`s official social media channels appears to contain an enigmatic hint about the name of the next upcoming DLC.
Upon careful deciphering by vigilant fans, the hidden message seemingly reveals two intriguing words: “Terran Armada.”
The nomenclature “Terran Armada” immediately suggests a profound connection to Earth within the Starfield universe. According to the game`s rich lore, Earth tragically became an uninhabitable world, compelling humanity to embark on a vast colonization effort across numerous distant star systems. For generations, returning to their ancestral home planet has not been a practical or even conceivable endeavor for humans. This potential storyline for the new expansion is particularly captivating, hinting at a shift that could finally bring players back to a planet long considered lost and abandoned.
Earlier this summer, Tim Lab, Starfield`s lead creative producer, formally confirmed that a new expansion was indeed in development. He also generously offered some preliminary insights into its scope and content.
«We have a lot of exciting things coming, including free updates packed with features players have been consistently requesting, and a brand new DLC story campaign,» Lab enthusiastically stated. «While I can`t divulge all the specific details just yet, I can confirm that a dedicated portion of our team is actively focused on significantly enhancing the space gameplay experience, aiming to make interstellar journeys even more engaging and truly rewarding. We are also planning to introduce several new game systems and a handful of other delightful additions for our players.»
Beyond the confirmed DLC, persistent yet unconfirmed rumors continue to circulate within the broader gaming community regarding Starfield`s potential availability on additional platforms. Specifically, there`s been talk of a possible release on PlayStation 5 or even the rumored Nintendo Switch 2. However, at this juncture, these reports remain purely speculative, with Bethesda making no official announcements to corroborate such claims.
