Nintendo has just rolled out another system update for the Switch 2, marking its second hardware patch this July. Users shouldn`t expect any dramatic changes with this latest version, 20.3.0, for the hybrid console.
As per Nintendo`s official website, the update notes vaguely mention “general system stability improvements” aimed at enhancing the Switch 2 user experience. This common phrase often accompanies Nintendo updates, even when specific fixes are present. For example, an earlier Switch 2 update released this month addressed issues with internet network searching and the transfer of parental control settings, alongside general stability enhancements.
It is currently unknown whether this new Switch 2 update provides specific backward compatibility improvements for certain games. Earlier in July, data miners had suggested that the previous hardware patch might have led to better performance for titles such as Portal 2.
The launch of the Switch 2 has been a massive success, shattering a nearly two-decade-old US hardware sales record for June. The hybrid console reportedly sold 1.6 million units in the US, setting an unprecedented first-month sales record for a console launch. Its triumph isn`t confined to the domestic market; the system also reportedly broke Japan`s first-month sales record, with 1.5 million units sold.
