New Drag X Drive Trailer Makes The Game Look Like A Great Arm Workout

The highly anticipated Switch 2 exclusive, Drag x Drive, is set to launch on August 14. In anticipation of its official release, Nintendo has unveiled a fresh gameplay trailer, offering a deeper look into the title and announcing details for an upcoming Global Jam demo event.

This exclusive demo will be available from August 9 to August 10. To participate, players will need an active Switch Online membership. Those interested can download the demo later today, with play sessions meticulously scheduled at specific times to accommodate different regions:

Drag x Drive Global Jam Playtest Schedule

August 9

  • 3 AM – 7 AM PT / 6 AM ET – 10 AM ET
  • 5 PM – 9 PM PT / 8 PM ET – 12 AM ET

August 10

  • 9 AM – 1 PM PT / 12 PM ET – 4 PM ET

The new overview trailer also provided extensive details on the unique control scheme for Drag x Drive. Players will utilize the Joy-Con 2 controllers to individually maneuver each wheel of the in-game wheelchair, mimicking mouse-like movements. Swiping the controllers forward or backward dictates momentum and direction. While a flat surface like a table is ideal for these controls, Nintendo assures players that most flat surfaces—including their laps—will suffice. This innovative control method promises a dynamic and physically engaging experience, truly making it an “arm workout” as the title suggests.

Drag x Drive is one of two significant August releases for the Switch 2. An enhanced version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, featuring a brand-new expansion and upgraded visuals, is also slated for release on August 28.

Looking further ahead, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is scheduled for October. Additionally, Nintendo has announced a new Direct livestream for July 31. The company has stated that the broadcast will feature approximately 25 minutes of new information on upcoming titles. Fans are eagerly awaiting this event, hoping it will finally bring a confirmed release date for the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
