Metal Gear Solid Delta Team Hopes for Kojima’s Approval

This past summer, Hideo Kojima, the renowned creator of Metal Gear Solid, dismissed the idea of playing the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater with a laugh, explicitly stating, `No, I won`t.` Despite his stance, the development team behind Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater holds out hope that their former colleague will eventually see the remake, recognizing the profound respect and reverence poured into its creation as an homage to the original.

During an interview with Inverse, Noriaki Okamura, the producer of MGS Delta, expressed the team`s sentiments: `We are uncertain of [Kojima`s] intentions, but our aim is to deliver this game while honoring all the individuals we collaborated with in the past. We genuinely hope [Kojima] gets to experience it as well.`

Kojima`s departure from Konami in 2015 marked the end of decades as a leading creative force within the company. Since then, he has established his own studio and launched two Death Stranding titles. Okamura has openly voiced his admiration for Kojima and his aspiration to collaborate with him again on the Metal Gear Solid franchise. However, Kojima is currently developing his own Metal Gear-esque game, Physint, which remains in its early conceptual stages and is likely several years from release.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. While its new online multiplayer mode, `Fox Hunt,` won`t be available at launch, Konami plans to introduce it later this fall, though it will not feature cross-play functionality. The new iteration of the game has been very positively received by critics.
