Limited Demo for Drag x Drive Wheelchair Basketball Game Announced for Switch 2

Nintendo`s upcoming wheelchair basketball title, Drag x Drive, is set to offer a limited-time demo before its official release next month.

The `Drag x Drive: Global Jam` demo event will be available for Nintendo Switch 2 owners who have a Nintendo Switch Online membership. This online team-based multiplayer trial will run from Saturday, August 9, to Sunday, August 10, across three distinct play sessions, ahead of the game`s full launch on August 14.

The three sessions will take place at the following dates and times (Pacific Time / Eastern Time):

  • Saturday, August 9, 3 AM to 7 AM PT / 6 AM to 10 AM ET
  • Saturday, August 9, 5 PM to 9 PM PT / 8 PM to 11 PM ET
  • Sunday, August 10, 9 AM to 1 PM PT / 6 AM to 10 AM ET

First unveiled during an earlier Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Drag x Drive is an internally developed Nintendo title. This 3v3 sports game utilizes a unique control scheme: players navigate their wheelchairs using both Joy-Cons in mouse mode, while shooting the basketball requires specific motion-control gestures.

Drag x Drive currently stands out as the only first-party Switch 2 title extensively utilizing mouse controls, though alternative control configurations remain unconfirmed. However, upcoming games like Super Mario Party Jamboree Switch 2 Edition will introduce mouse-based minigames in its Jamboree TV mode, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will offer mouse control options for aiming. Beyond first-party titles, Cyberpunk 2077 and Civilization 7 are also confirmed to support mouse controls on the platform.

Priced at $20, Drag x Drive is a digital-exclusive release, distinguishing it from higher-priced first-party titles such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. Pre-orders are currently available via the eShop.
