Lego Expands Transformers Line with Soundwave Reveal

Lego has officially announced the next addition to its popular Transformers building block series: the iconic Decepticon, Soundwave. Set to arrive next month, this marks the first time a Decepticon character has been released in the Lego Transformers line, standing alongside the previously launched Autobot fan favorites, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

Like the earlier figures in the series, the Lego Soundwave model boasts the ability to transform between his robot form and his classic boombox alternate mode without requiring disassembly. The set includes 1,505 pieces, offering an engaging build experience.

In his robot configuration, the Decepticon communications specialist stands approximately 33cm (around 13 inches) tall. The set is further enhanced by the inclusion of smaller, transforming figures of his loyal minions, Ravage and Rumble, which convert into miniature cassette tapes.

Echoing the features of the classic Generation 1 character, the Lego Soundwave figure incorporates a functional cassette bay designed to store Ravage and Rumble in their transformed tape states. Adding to the interactive elements, the set comes with a unique sound brick that plays newly recorded audio lines when activated.

The Lego Soundwave set is priced at $190. It will first be available starting August 1st for members of the free Lego Insiders program, followed by a general release on August 4th.

For those interested in the wider collection, the existing Lego Optimus Prime and Bumblebee sets have been very well received since their initial launch, praised for their enjoyable build and transformative capabilities.
