Lazlow Jones, the long-standing voice of DJ Lazlow in Grand Theft Auto games since GTA 3, has stated his unlikelihood of appearing in GTA 6. This comes as no surprise, as Jones left Rockstar Games in 2020 and is currently working with Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser (who also departed in 2020) at their new company, Absurd Ventures.
“We left in 2020, so I doubt it,” Jones told Nerd Reactor regarding a potential appearance in GTA 6. He added, “I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Dan on those games. I was a radio host from GTA 3 onwards, and it was an incredible two-decade journey working on the Grand Theft Auto series.”
Throughout his tenure, Jones also contributed to the GTA series as a producer, director, and writer. His current role at Absurd Ventures is Executive Producer, Writer, and Director.
Jones described Absurd Ventures as possessing a “creative vibe and grit” reminiscent of Rockstar`s formative years, with several projects currently under development.
Absurd Ventures` projects to date include the audio fiction series “A Better Paradise,” featuring Andrew Lincoln from “The Walking Dead,” and the comic series “American Caper.”
While Lazlow might not appear in GTA 6, reports suggest that Rockstar has enlisted real-life musicians such as Drake and DJ Khaled for the game.
Separately, another former Rockstar veteran, Leslie Benzies, recently released a new game called “MindsEye,” which reportedly did not receive a favorable reception.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release in May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There`s a possibility that parent publisher Take-Two will disclose further details about the game during their earnings call on August 7th.
