Apple recently introduced the iPhone 17 series during its latest livestreamed presentation, unveiling four distinct models: the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. While the “impossibly thin” iPhone Air has captured significant attention, the entire new generation of iPhones brings two crucial technological enhancements that will particularly excite mobile gaming enthusiasts.
A primary upgrade is the new Super Retina XDR display. This advanced screen not only incorporates Ceramic Shield 2 for superior protection but also supports ProMotion technology, delivering a smooth refresh rate of up to 120Hz. NetEase`s popular free-to-play RPG, Destiny Rising, has already been confirmed as one of the first iOS games designed to fully utilize this 120Hz capability.

Another significant innovation is the inclusion of vapor chamber cooling technology, a feature previously utilized in devices like the Xbox One X. This sophisticated cooling system is engineered to “enhance heat dissipation and performance.” According to the official announcement, it achieves this through deionized water sealed inside a chamber, which is “laser-welded into the aluminum chassis” to efficiently draw heat away from the powerful A19 Pro chip, enabling the device to operate at sustained higher performance levels.
Beyond these, other gaming-centric features in the new iPhones include the A19 Pro chip itself. This chip boasts a 6-core CPU and GPU architecture, which Apple states will “deliver up to 40% better sustained performance than the previous generation.” Furthermore, the new N1 wireless networking chip offers comprehensive support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, optimizing connectivity for demanding online multiplayer games.
All models of the iPhone 17 series are scheduled for launch on September 19, with pre-orders becoming available one week prior, on September 12.
