I Hate This Place: Comic Book Survival-Horror Emphasizes Cunning Over Screams

Skybound Games has unveiled its latest release, “I Hate This Place,” an isometric survival-horror title. Developed by Broken Mirror Games, and drawing inspiration from the comic series by artist Artyom Topilin and writer Kyle Starks, the game merges an `80s horror atmosphere with intricate scavenging mechanics. A preview trailer showcasing gameplay is now available.

A distinctive element of “I Hate This Place” is its focus on stealth, providing players with options to avoid the monstrous creatures that stalk them. Every sound made must be carefully considered; conversely, noise can be exploited to lure enemies into strategically placed traps.

To visually complement its comic book aesthetic, Broken Mirror Games has incorporated a unique sound cue system: green signifies near-silent movement, yellow indicates increased noise, and red warns of being overtly loud.

Players take on the role of Elena, who finds herself thrust into a dimension teeming with malevolent entities. Fortunately, Elena possesses the ability to gather crucial resources and craft essential equipment for her survival. However, outsmarting the brutal monsters requires considerable cunning. The game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in the fourth quarter of 2025.
