Horizon Forbidden West Update Adds PS5 Energy-Saving Mode Support

Guerrilla Games has unexpectedly released update 1.30 for Horizon Forbidden West, introducing support for PlayStation 5’s energy-saving mode. Although the game’s post-launch support was considered complete, this patch brings a feature already common among most PlayStation Studios titles.

The energy-saving mode allows players to reduce the console’s power consumption during gameplay, at the cost of potential compromises in visual quality or framerate. It can be activated by navigating to Settings > System > Energy Saving > Energy Saving for Games. While this option may not be essential for everyone, it’s interesting to note the hypothesis that Sony might be experimenting with reduced power profiles, perhaps in anticipation of a future portable PlayStation console. Regardless, it offers an additional choice for optimizing energy efficiency.
