After much anticipation, Hollow Knight: Silksong has finally unveiled new gameplay footage and confirmed its release date for September 4th. However, players and critics should note that official reviews are not expected to be available at the game`s launch.
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, developer Team Cherry has made the decision not to distribute early review codes to media outlets. This choice is primarily driven by their desire to ensure that critics do not gain access to the game before the dedicated Kickstarter backers and the broader player community.
Schreier also suggested that Team Cherry`s relatively small size might pose a logistical challenge for a widespread distribution of preview codes, contributing to their decision.
What began as a planned DLC has evolved into a full-fledged standalone sequel. In Silksong, players will step into the role of Hornet, a fierce and agile warrior who played a significant part in the original Hollow Knight narrative. The upcoming title promises a rich experience with over 150 new enemies, innovative combat tools, and crafting mechanics, all set against a backdrop of faster-paced, more acrobatic combat.
While pre-launch reviews will be absent, fans can still find early impressions and hands-on previews from various gaming events, such as Gamescom, to get a taste of what`s to come.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on September 4th, and will be available across all major gaming platforms, including Game Pass.
