Gamescom featured a wave of announcements, offering new glimpses of highly anticipated titles, including the long-awaited sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. This time, players step into the role of Hornet, the princess-protector, as she embarks on a perilous pilgrimage through an unfamiliar land. We had the opportunity to experience a hands-on demo of Silksong at Gamescom.
After repeated delays, fans` anticipation for the game`s release had grown considerably. While we did get to play it, there`s a significant detail worth noting.
Despite less-than-ideal audio quality, which hindered the full appreciation of Christopher Larkin`s somber score, the demo effectively showcased Hornet`s movement and attack mechanics. Similar to her appearance in the original Hollow Knight, Hornet wields her reliable needle, capable of charged attacks for increased damage. The boss encounter with `Mother` felt straightforward, and it was truly satisfying to delve back into the Hollow Knight universe.
However, seasoned fans might find the gameplay footage familiar. This exact section of the game was previously showcased at E3 in 2019. It`s possible that Team Cherry aims to keep new content under wraps, opting to present this polished starting level for both returning Hollow Knight players and those who missed the demo six years ago.
A special presentation for the game is scheduled for Thursday. This event could potentially reveal the official release date and additional story details. Team Cherry has consistently stated that the game is planned for a 2025 release.
