Fans of the beloved Harry Potter saga can finally rejoice: HBO and Warner Bros. have released the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Harry Potter series, much earlier than many expected.
Following an initial image last Tuesday, which showed a young Harry from behind in a Quidditch cloak, we now see the first actual scenes from the upcoming new adaptation. It’s important to note: this is, of course, only material from the first season, which will cover the beginning of Harry Potter’s journey, specifically the story revolving around the Philosopher’s Stone.
First Look: What the New HBO Harry Potter Series Trailer Shows
Here’s what we see in the first trailer for the Harry Potter series: Most scenes are from the very beginning. We catch glimpses of young Harry with the Dursleys, his room under the stairs, as well as the first appearance of Rubeus Hagrid, along with views of Hogwarts and the Hogwarts Express. The teaser focuses heavily on atmosphere – it’s calmly edited, only picking up a little more pace towards the end.
Compared to the first film, we already observe some initial changes that underscore how closely the series aims to adhere to the books. Petunia reluctantly cuts Harry’s hair. The setting also feels much more authentically like the 90s, rather than the early 2000s. Furthermore, we see Harry being bullied by Dudley at a “normal” school.
As is typical for a teaser trailer, it does not delve deeply into the plot. However, fans are already familiar with the story from the books. In this tale, Harry Potter arrives at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and discovers he is quite special in this parallel world. Along with his friends Ron and Hermione, he immediately plunges into a rather dangerous adventure.

When Is the Harry Potter Series Officially Set to Start?
Those who hoped for a firm release date at the end of the short teaser trailer might be slightly disappointed. There isn’t an exact date yet for when we can watch the Harry Potter series. Nevertheless, there’s good news: it will start this year, specifically Christmas 2026. Previously, it was suggested that we would have to wait until early 2027.
