After the casting announcement for Nintendo`s upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie, Google introduced a delightful Easter egg. Searching for the newly cast actors, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Link) and Bo Bragason (Princess Zelda), reveals a special surprise alongside standard search results.
Whether on mobile or desktop, entering their names into Google`s search bar displays not only images, Wikipedia links, social media profiles, and casting news, but also playful references to their iconic characters.
When you search for Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who plays Link, a message appears saying: `KYAAAA! HYAAAAA!`, mimicking Link`s signature battle cries from the game. A small male elf emoji accompanies the text, adding a charming detail.
Similarly, searching for Bo Bragason, cast as Zelda, brings up the phrase: `Well, excuse me, Princess,` paired with a female elf emoji. This witty line is a direct nod to Link`s famous, albeit brief, catchphrase from the classic Legend of Zelda animated series, which many fans will recall aired during the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
Bo Bragason, an English actress, first gained prominence in the 2017 series Three Girls and later featured in the 2021 horror film Censor. She also lent her voice to young Luna in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy (2021), a CG movie connected to Final Fantasy XV. Her career includes a variety of subsequent television and film roles. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, also an English actor, is recognized for his performances in The Haunting of Bly Manor, Flora & Ulysses, and Disney`s live-action Pinocchio.
A live-action Legend of Zelda film is currently in development, a joint venture between Nintendo and Sony Pictures. Wes Ball, known for Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is set to direct. The movie will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Zelda, and Marvel`s Avi Arad. Ball has expressed his intention to create a visually striking film, drawing inspiration from Studio Ghibli, while ensuring the narrative remains grounded.
The Legend of Zelda movie is currently slated for release on May 7, 2027.
