Ghost of Yotei: Free Multiplayer DLC Confirmed

The autumn release of Ghost of Yotei is fast approaching, and a new trailer was unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live. It once again showcased cinematic footage and gameplay from the upcoming open-world samurai game by Sucker Punch Productions. While the trailer itself didn`t reveal new information, its conclusion confirmed the return of a key feature from the studio`s previous title, Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Yotei will feature its own multiplayer “Legends” mode, which will adapt the game`s mechanics and combat system to a supernatural setting for cooperative missions. The “Legends” mode will be available as free DLC for anyone who purchases the base game, set to release on October 2. However, the “Legends” mode itself will not launch until sometime in 2026.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, Ghost of Yotei Legends will include both two-player story missions and four-player survival matches. Similar to Ghost of Tsushima Legends, players in Yotei Legends will be able to choose from four classes. Tsushima Legends featured the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, and Assassin classes, but the PlayStation Blog has not yet confirmed if these exact classes will return in Yotei Legends.

In Ghost of Yotei Legends, players will confront `demonic, giant versions of members of the Yōtei Six` – the antagonist group pursued by Atsu, the protagonist of the single-player campaign. Sucker Punch and PlayStation had previously revealed many details about Atsu`s story and the game`s combat system in a comprehensive deep dive.

PlayStation did not present any gameplay footage of the Ghost of Yotei Legends mode and provided no specific release dates other than the 2026 window, presumably focusing on the release of the main game. Ghost of Yotei will also bring back the black-and-white `Kurosawa mode,` and Sucker Punch aims to make the game `fresh yet familiar.`
