Much like its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei is poised to become an excellent example of digital tourism. A new video released by Sony showcases picturesque locations from the upcoming game. Best of all, you won`t have to worry about bandits or ronin interrupting your journey through Ezo while enjoying an extended version of “The North” from Toma Otowa`s soundtrack.
Ghost of Yotei is officially slated for release on October 2 for PS5. As this date approaches, Sony and developer Sucker Punch Productions have been sharing new details. Set centuries after the events of Ghost of Tsushima and centered around a quest for vengeance, Sucker Punch aims to prevent players from feeling overwhelmed by open-world monotony during their travels across Ezo.
Open-World Philosophy
“Perhaps the wind tells you, if you would like to continue the story, go that way. But then you see something out of the corner of your eye that catches your curiosity. And you say, `You know what? I`m going to go check that out.` That moment when the game isn`t really telling you where to go or what to do – that`s you. That`s the most beautiful thing about open-world games.”
— Nate Fox, Game Director
Post-launch plans for Ghost of Yotei include free multiplayer DLC next year, featuring “Legends” mode. Players can look forward to both two-player story missions and four-player survival matches. Ghost of Yotei also brings back the black-and-white “Kurosawa mode.”
