Ghost of Yotei Devs Ecstatic Over GTA 6 Delay, Tease Game Features

Sucker Punch`s “Ghost of Yotei” developers welcomed Rockstar`s decision to postpone Grand Theft Auto VI until 2026, creating valuable release window space for their own title in the crucial fall season.

MinnMaxx interviewed Nate Fox, co-creative director for Ghost of Yotei, asking if the studio celebrated with champagne in May 2025 following Rockstar`s announcement of the GTA 6 delay.

Fox humorously responded, “We`re all still hungover. Multi-month hangover. That was a great day.”

Sony had previously announced Ghost of Yotei`s release for October 2, 2025. A month later, in May 2025, Rockstar confirmed that GTA 6 would launch in May 2026 instead.

Many developers planning 2025 releases were reportedly considering adjusting their schedules to avoid direct competition with GTA 6. The highly anticipated title is expected to be a colossal hit, with one industry expert even dubbing it the first “AAAAA” game, capable of eclipsing all other releases.

Potential for a Second Playable Character and Story DLC

Around the 1:20 mark of the interview video, Fox was questioned about Atsu being the sole playable character in Ghost of Yotei. He responded by subtly taking a sip from his drink, avoiding a direct answer and giving a knowing glance to the camera – a clear hint that more might be revealed later.

When asked if he could definitively rule out single-player DLC for Ghost of Yotei, Fox remained silent, offering only a sly expression to the camera. While intriguing, this silence doesn`t confirm any future plans.

Ghost of Yotei is confirmed to feature a multiplayer “Legends” mode, which will adapt the game`s core mechanics and combat for cooperative missions within a supernatural environment. This free DLC, available to all base game purchasers, is slated for release in 2026.

Atsu`s Onsen Moment Confirmed

A memorable detail from Ghost of Tsushima that resonated with players was Jin Sakai`s onsen scene, where his backside was visible. Fox confirmed that Ghost of Yotei will feature a similar moment for Atsu, stating, “Atsu will also be getting an onsen, and you will see her butt.”

Nate Fox Thinks Infamous Remasters “Would Be Great”

Fox also briefly discussed Sucker Punch`s Infamous franchise, expressing enthusiasm for the idea of another studio developing remasters of the games. The series began in 2009, with Infamous 2 released in 2011, and Infamous: Second Son following in 2014 – all three titles were directed by Fox.
