Fallout Season 1 4K Blu-ray Sees Early Price Drop on Amazon

Just days after its initial release, the 4K Blu-ray edition of the popular series Fallout: Season 1 is now available at a discounted price on Amazon. Originally listed at $40, the 4K version can currently be purchased for $30. This price matches that of the standard 1080p Blu-ray edition.

It`s important to clarify that this $30 offer is for the standard edition, which comes in a plastic case, and not the Limited Edition Steelbook. The Steelbook proved very popular, selling out shortly after pre-orders opened back in April. It briefly reappeared around the launch date last week priced at $43. According to Amazon, this Steelbook is a truly limited item and was only available “while supplies last,” unlike some editions that see future reprints.

While re-releases of limited edition Blu-rays can sometimes occur, the way Amazon managed the pre-orders for the standard 4K version suggests the Steelbook stock may indeed be exhausted for good. Amazon didn`t list the standard edition until mid-May, after the Steelbook had sold out, and surprisingly, it was initially priced the same at $40. This might indicate the Steelbook was primarily an early incentive. However, predicting future restocks is impossible.

Nevertheless, the $10 price reduction on the standard edition is a welcome consolation for fans who were unable to secure the version with the decorative packaging and art cards upon its launch on July 8. Crucially, the actual content on the discs – the episodes and bonus features – is exactly the same in both the standard and Steelbook versions.

About the 4K Blu-ray Release

The Fallout: Season 1 4K Blu-ray set includes three discs containing all eight episodes of the season. The video quality is presented in stunning 4K resolution (2160p) and supports High Dynamic Range formats (Dolby Vision and HDR10). For audio enthusiasts, the release offers enhanced sound options including Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound.

The entire first season has a total runtime of approximately 450 minutes, which is about 7.5 hours. In addition to the episodes, the set includes a dedicated special features disc packed with various behind-the-scenes featurettes. Typical of many 4K film and TV releases, the bonus content is provided on a standard Blu-ray disc rather than in 4K resolution.

  • Inside Season 1
  • Prosthetics & Makeup Gone Nuclear

Fallout: Season 1 originally premiered on Prime Video in April of the previous year and garnered positive feedback from both critics and viewers, establishing itself as one of the successful live-action adaptations of a video game franchise. It`s not common for Amazon to release its original programming on physical media like Blu-ray, making this release notable for those who prefer to own copies without needing a subscription. The physical editions were produced and distributed through Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

The narrative of the show follows three distinct characters as they traverse the post-apocalyptic setting known as the Wasteland: a resident emerging from a Vault for the first time, a squire serving the Brotherhood of Steel, and a dangerous mercenary known simply as The Ghoul.

Beyond the show itself, fans interested in expanding their collection can find various Fallout-themed merchandise.

The official Fallout Store page on Amazon offers a wide array of products inspired by both the Prime Video series and the long-running game franchise by Bethesda. The selection ranges from apparel like backpacks and hoodies to collectibles such as vinyl records and figurines. Among the more unique items is a plush version of Vault Boy styled as a rubber duck, as pictured above. Vinyl figures depicting Vault Boy, Nuka-Cola T-51 armor, and Nuka-Girl in rubber duck form are also available, with some currently offered at discounted prices.

In related news concerning critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic television series adapted from video games, The Last of Us Season 2 is set to be released on 4K Blu-ray on September 23. The Limited Edition Steelbook for that series is currently still available for pre-order, and Amazon has recently lowered its price from $47 down to $35.
